Kimberly King

Kimberly King, PTA

Kimberly was born and raised in the seaside village of Cambria, California, 30 miles north of San Luis Obispo. At the age of 9, she and her family moved to Cave Creek, Arizona. She completed her Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology at Arizona State University in 2009 and began her journey into physical therapy as a physical therapy technician. She then continued her education to become a PTA at Pima Medical Institute where she received her Associate’s Degree in Occupational Science. After college, Kimberly went to work for Arizona Bone and Joint Specialists in Scottsdale, Arizona. She worked closely with the orthopedic doctors to maintain positive outcomes after surgery as well as to make sure the local high school athletes returned to sports safely. Her husband’s job relocated them to San Diego for a few years where she continued her work in outpatient physical therapy. She learned treatments for spine and chronic pain patients, studied measurement-driven outcome tools, and took a variety of continuing education courses to learn more about manual skills and clinical reasoning.

Kimberly has always enjoyed outdoor activities and athletics. She played competitive volleyball, basketball and soccer, and participated in dance classes for many years. As an athlete, herself, who has also faced injuries, she applies her own experience when working with her patients. In January 2014, she underwent shoulder surgery, which gave her an alternative outlook on the physical challenges and positive results of physical therapy. She knows first-hand how difficult it can be to lose some of your functional abilities and to be in pain. She to treats each patient with personal attention, focusing on improving their functional limitations. In her spare time, Kimberly enjoys spending time with her husband, family and friends. Her passions include traveling to new places, hiking, yoga, going to the lake, and camping.
